Mix dry ingredients. Add water slowly, stirring out lumps. Cook in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat when paste begins to thicken; it will thicken more as it cools. Keep covered and thin with water when necessary.

Use this on old books that aren't ripped But are just loose from the binding. Apply with a small artist brush, making sure not to put gobs, but just enough to wet the edge of the page. Dab a small amount on the inside if the binding as well. Use plastic page protectors, or somthing of the like, to put on either side of the page you trying to repair. This keep your pages from accidently being glued together! (GASP-TRAGEDY!)
A little patience and time spent on repairing an old book makes the book even more valuable to you! Take care of your books...They need luv too! :D
