As much as $300 a kilogram

Homer Simpson somehow managed to serve this delicacy without killing anybody, but in the real world, eating pufferfish is no laughing matter. The creature contains lethal levels of poison, and only licensed, trained chefs are allowed to prepare it. Fugu is commonly served as sashimi, but it's also eaten in cooked dishes. The fish is prized for its texture and for the prickling sensation caused by minute levels of poison present when prepared by a pro.
